Awesomeness Compulsive Disorder - Belated

Was a fighting fire day at work. Never fun but makes the day fly by.

Started the process of getting a re-fi. Hopefully it will go smooth.

Stopped in and said hey to Friday and spawn at the Stop.

Finished Chapter 3 of FFXIII (about 5.5 hours in). Still kind of annoyed at the lack of explanation of what the fuck is going on. Most of understanding of what is going on is from reading the DataLog not from the story.

Started reading Enemies and Allies again. Still digging. The book is set in the 50s and the setting really helps the story. It brings to mind Matt Wagner's rant about Superman and Batman not working in the modern era. I am not sure if I agree but while reading this book I can defiantly see his point of view.

Extreme Monday

Work. First time in a month or so that I have had no afterwork commitments. It is kind of strange.

Played a couple of more hours of FFXIII.

Tried out Wasabi Factory 2. The sushi was OK but kind of expensive. Yet another strip mall restaurant that is much nicer in the inside then expected. I had a Marinier's roll which was voted there best roll in 2007.

post-ECCC day 2

Went to see How to train a Dragon in 3D. Did not know I was going to a 3D showing but it was. The 3D was pretty good and the story was a fun adventure. It was definitely a PG story as there were a couple of kids that were traumatized. Kind of pissed that the increased the glasses rental to $4. I think I am just going to buy a different ticket and bring my own glasses from now on. I am also disappointed that the Lowes AMC theater now has at least one faux-max theaters and no longer allows me to bring in a Jamba Juice. It is making me not want to go to the theater anymore again it was only their (at the time) $5 pre-noon showings that brought me back to the big screen.

Started Final Fantasy XIII. About 2 hours into it and I have no real understanding of what is going on...

Had the department head meeting for ECCC, lots of stuff was talked about. And there was steak. George stole my Prime Rib but the Peppercorn New York was still good.

Double B-day - belated

Hung out with B all day. Went to the Lego store. Played a game of MLB 10 The Show. B kicked my ass and the commentators mocked me like crazy.

Went to the joint birthday party for G and T. I got G a crap load of Iron Man stuff. And T the Home One Lego set. Just a conversation evening.

Overall a good day.

Zombies taken care of

Went to work. Had a meeting about WaF. Had to go to TCA. Got home and played Borderlands with JB then with MD. That was pretty much it...

No * today :(

Excellent day

Took a vacation day.

Got my contacts back into my phone. Was not easy but they are there and can be updated. Not sure it was worth the hassle.

Finished Assassin's Creed II. Even got the full 1000. I guess this could be a spoiler but I keep expecting to find out that my side is the "real" bad guys. In both games I felt that my side was as bad or worse then the Templars. They want more power, I go around killing the guys hired to watch over the city...

Cleaned out my closet looking for some skinny pants that are in good shape and found a stack of fat pants. I have no recollection of ever needing fat pants. I wish there was a manufactured date on clothes so that I would know when I bought something.

Another 11 miles on the exercise bike. I wish I knew where this endurance has been for the last 10+ years.

8

I guess I am starting to get used to the touch keyboard on my phone. I do need to see if I can turn off the autocorrect.

Tried to watch Repo: the Genetic Opera. Gave up after about an hour. Story was boring and made worse by the horrible songs. Not my cup of tea I guess. Glad I am not planning on seeing Report Men anytime soon, because I would probably be disappointed when Jude Law did not break out in song.

Android Crisis

Suddenly finding myself without much work to do at the office. Decided to clock out early and flash the ROM on my new phone so that I could have Exchange Calendar support and native tethering. While the flashing went smooth, for some reason I can no longer sync my Exchange contacts. So in a nut shell I my Calendar is now syncing but my contacts are not. Spent most of the day working on this with really only a band aid on the problem at the moment. I even put aside reading this weeks comics to work on this issue.

While working on my issue, I watched last weeks Flash Forward and was surprised to see the ex-boyfriend from Ally McBeal. He looks like shit now.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Looks like I may have actually finished the TCA main project. I am so pleased not to make that drive any more. Then again they keep hiring me for other projects so I guess I will be back.

Tried my first solo Thai food experience. Ate at Zab Thai in Everett. It is located in a strip mall but the inside is very high class. They even have a piano!! The food was good, with large quantities, and a good price. I would recommenced it but I am not the best judge of Thai food, since I did have any I liked until a few months ago.

Played some more AC II. Rinse. Repeat.

Another 45 on the X-bike.

Watched Chuck (still not diggin' this season) and Lost (Awesome!)

Did a quick read through of the DC and Marvel previews for June. I really am hating how both companies but Marvel especially keeps putting out comics that are important to an ongoing but they don't collect them with the ongoing but instead collect them in a different trade with shit I don't care about. It is making me not care at all...

Trial run

This my first blog post using the Nexus One. I am still having issues using the keyboard.

Got my document done for WaF. I hate doing documentation.

Went to the Stop and played the new Magic two pack with G. He cheated.

Played some more AC II. Getting closer to the end.

Worked out on the exercise bike for 45 minutes then did 55 pushups without stopping. Kind of surprised considering I still live my nerdcore life.

Falling behind on my reading again. Need to step it up.

Sunday, March 21, 2010

Instead of finishing up my work, I decided to process the last 3 years of personal photos. I really should go through and tag/comment all of them, but I don't see that happening. At least the new photo album is much easier to do if I decide to. Plus I can hide personal photos. :)

Played some more AC II. I really want to finish this game so I can start FF XIII. I am starting to feel like a broken record. Plus I would like to play some more Borderlands.

Went to the ECCC Volunteer debrief meeting.

Had the final conversation. Glad that is done.

Got 3 of the 5 things I wanted to accomplish done this weekend done. Overall a good weekend.

Doing a little self debate on whether I should do something about staying at my current weight and buy some new pants or just stay with the status quo and assume they will fit again. I like the weight I am right now but I am hating the belt... The silly thing is that I have been back on a normal (for me) eating schedule for almost a month and I have still lost a little more weight.

MyLifeIsAverage of the day: Today, I was wondering if people in china got english words tattooed on themselves

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Lazy Saturday

Was tempted to try for a sock-less Saturday but the lack of food made it kind of difficult. Plus it was kind of a nice day.

Played some AC II.

Went to Famous Daves for lunch. I got a smiley face this time instead of a STD.

Watched a bunch of random TV while I worked on some ECCC stuff and getting my new online photo site up (www.osentowski.net/Photos). I still need to re-add all of the descriptions and add tags to the old photos and add all of the photos from the last 3 years.

Watched the new Astro Boy movie. I really liked it. It was surprisingly non-anime.

Heelys' are Dangerous

Was not nearly as productive as I wanted to be at work. Will need to finish up over the weekend. Sad me :(

Ever since I read Secret Wars some 25+ years ago when I say the James Rhodes Iron Man pop out roller skates, I have craved the hidden roller skates. Today that dream is a reality when my adult sized Heelys arrived. After just about an hour of practice I must say that those freakin' kids make it look much easier then it is!!

Played some more AC II.

Caught up on Caprica.

Favorite thing I saw today: 9x - 7i > 3 (3x-7u) Solve for i

I have three projects that I want to get done this weekend plus at least 10 more pages of my SoO for WaF. I am going to guess that I will get none of them done.

FKA: Nexus One Day

Got my new phone. It is a Nexus One from Google. I like it but I (of course) have a few issues:

- No native Exchange calendar synch. I have bypassed by having my Outlook synch with Gcal.
- Contacts sorted by first name with no way to change.
- Changing a contact in the phone changes the sort order of the contact in Exchange to First name. This is really unacceptable!!!
- Having difficulty getting used to the touch screen keyboard.

Went to the Stop again and talked with George for a bit.

Came home and played some ACII again. I would really like to finish this weekend so I can start FFXIII with a clear conscience.

Watched Damages and Justified. Both were good. I did not love Justified as much as tweeters did, but I liked it a lot. I think my biggest problem is my disliking of Olyphant. He tends to be the worst thing in everything he is in.

I here by declare that tomorrow will be slackless Friday!! I must get some actual work done!!!

Trying to decide what my new overly repeated saying will be. Current contenders are:

- Catch Phrase!
- 'Tis what the maiden proclaimed!

Off to read some trades. I still have some from last week to read.

St Paddy's Day - Belated

Made the long trek to TCA. Got back in time to enjoy a little bit of Comic Wednesday.

Watched The Invention of Lying out of Netflix queue. I really liked the premise but felt the execution was lacking. My biggest problem was that this alternate earth not only could not lie, they had no impulse control. I guess walking up to someone and not saying "Wow you are a fat ugly man" could be considered a lie of omission but that is just pressing it in my opinion.

Decided to forgo an offer to go out drinking in an effort to get over my brain mushy-ness. An effort that since I am writing this belatedly is know to be a failure.

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Today was a good day

Slept in. Had Teriyaki. Costco was in to push memberships so free cookies and muffins. Left Early.

Hit Best Buy and picked up Princess and the Frog and Astro Boy. Two movies I really want to watch.

Hit Toys R Us. They were out of the Chrome Lego Stormtroppers. They were giving them out free with Lego Star Wars purchase, but they gave them all away on Sunday. I could not have gotten one anyway because of ECCC.

Stopped at the Stop and had a good discussion with MB which continued when NB showed up. Then when they left talked to Friday until I realized that I had been there for 3 hours. Totally not a waste of time.

Drove to the Everett TRU only to find that they two were out of the Chrometroppers. But as I was checking out the latest action figures, one of the employees found one and presented to me. I then went and picked up the latest TRU exclusive set instead of the cheap battle pack I planned on purchasing.

Spent a ton of money online today. Ordered an AT&T compatible Nexus One and a new pair of shoes.

When I got home I watched a little TV (Chuck, House, Lost) while I worked on sorting my photos. I was planning on moving my photos to ZenPhoto that my hosting company provides until I discovered that you can not rotate your photos. At this point my options are to pre-rotate, self install zen photo, switch to a no me hosted solutions or stick with Gallery. I am leaning towards the self install of ZenPhoto since I really liked the interface.

It has now been a week since I bought FFXIII and I have not removed the plastic yet. I wish I was not so busy a work so that I could take a "sick" day and catch up on stuff.

Ides of March - belated

Slept in (for me). Dropped B off at his house. Dropped stuff at home and watched Amazing Race. Went to work on my day off for a 2.5 hour meeting on my next project (codenamed WaF). Dealt with some of the aftermath from last weeks layoffs. (3 people on Friday) Went home and managed 3 years of digital pictures on my various devices while watching unremarkable TV. Early bed time...

Avoided lunch with Brutus.

ECCC day 2 - Belated (Lets see any of you jokers do better)

Last day of the con. Slower but still busy. If all the 2 day-ers showed up, then Sunday was close to Last years Saturday. Actually had to make time for me to hit the floor since it was pretty steady all day.

Picked up the Evil Inc. Trades. My only purchase of the Con.

Slightly pathetic I have nothing personally exciting from the show today. :)

Went to Gameworks after the show with the staff.

Went to Dragonfish after Gameworks with the gang and Froggy. Actually drank quite a bit. Was ahead of B, until I pulled the plug. Who by the way does snore (at least while drunk), but it is so little compare to the brother D (and probably me) that it could be considered background noise.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

ECCC Day 1 - only slighly belated

First day of ECCC. Went pretty smooth on my part Got my picture taken with Stan Lee. Actually got to talk with him for a couple of mintues. It was Awesome.

Me and my team admited the Hell out of the show. I will leave the official anouncement to the official website but I will say our daily attendance broke 5 figures for the first time.

After the show went to the Tap House with 8.5. Later went to the Dragonfish where B and K talked about the Tron Legacy trailer for way too long.

On the way back to the hotel had the conversation with B. Only one to go. BTW never a good idea to start a big topic conversation at 1 AM on daylight savings switchover night.

Overall a good day. Hopefully I will get some time to actually explore the floor on Sunday...

Pre-ECCC day 2

Got up and played some Toy Soldiers.

Left for the airport for my first pickup and got stuck in traffic. If I had not made an early exit off of the freeway I would have been late. So glad I was not trying to catch a plane or I would have been screwed.

Did a total of three airport runs. Played some GTA: CW and HoMaM while I waited in the Cell Phone Lot. Picked up Awesome Steve, who is still awesome, on the last run.

Realized that I forgot to clean my camera of pictures before taking it. I went to Office Despot to by a memory card but misremember that it took SD and not MemoryStick. Probably won't have time to take many pictures anyway.

Hung out at the convention center and started setting up admissions for tomorrow.

Went to dinner with a large group of people. Everyone was calling it an early night. My theory is because I got a hotel room. :)

Started reading Enemies and Allies.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

pre-ECCC day 1

Today was the first day of the new Online game closed beta. It was kind of fun but there was no teamwork at all. Hopefully that comes later.

Made a pickup at the airport.

Came home and played some Toy Soldiers. I kind of hate the boss fights but dig the rest of the game.

Went to the Stop and help G. sort and palletize the boxes for ECCC.

Back home to pack and watch a little TV.

Comic Wednesday

More work shitty-ness

Got my comics. Too many trades.

Came home and played some The Show. I really need to practice if I am going to have any fun, but that game looks Amazing.

Went back to the Stop to get packets for tomorrows ECCC pickups and ran in to 1.0. Told him about The Revelation. Only 2 more to go.

Returned home and played Toy Soldiers on XBL. Very fun. Apparently the developers are based in Bothell and damned proud of it.

Watched some random TV as I preformed some around the house stuff.

Was accepted in the closed beta for the Legendarily Entertaining Game Online. I am under a NDA so should not mention more. My first play session is tomorrow so I will get a chance to play for a bit before my ECCC work starts.

Got the rest of the baseball tickets for opening day!!! I am so excited for the season to start. Please don't suck!!! Believe Big!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Another quickie

Super Duper Crappy Day at Work.

I did not do the Midnight FF XIII launch. Decided instead to get the better deal at TRU. Plus picked up MW2 for a good price.

My Grand Emporium arrived today so instead of being productive, I spent my after work time building this awesome Lego set and catching up on TV. Actually no where near caught up but I put a noticeable dent in the back log.

That is all!

Monday, March 8, 2010

Quick Update

Made it home...

Had to share my seat between SLC and SeaTac with a fat dude.

Watch Amazing Race and Inbetweeners.

Played a couple of hours of GTA: CW

Hung with Beyers and talked ECCC. I feel so out of the loop.

Returned the Tilt 2.

Debated on if it should go to the FF XIII Launch Event at Best Buy. Will let you know later what I decided.

Going to head upstairs and watch HIMYM and Big Bang.

I am in the process of formulating a major post but it will probably have to wait until after ECCC.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Something Pithy

Made an effort to see Alice today but was scared away by the crowd and our late arrival. Picked up a couple of movies to rent. Both of which I had seen already but the 'rents had not. Time Travelers Wife was better the second time without being distracted by the lack of aging of Bana. 2012 was just as hoaky and awesome as the first time.

Strange Arizona fact: Thier left turn lights work quite awesomly. Through traffic get a green light first with the left turn lanes having a green as well, then the light turns yellow, and finally the left green arrow light comes on. It seams to work really well.

I am going to be returning this phone. While I like the larger screen, I can't stand WinMo 6.5. The final straw is that they removed the ability to mark all messages as read in the mail program. They had this ability in WinMo 6.0.

Finished Ring of Fire II. Not sure which book I will start next.

Disapointed I did not hear from The Pabber.

It has been raining off and on all day. Almost feels like home... Well at least sounds like it.

I have been eating too much here. Typical I guess.

I think it is this medicine that the doc gave me that has been giving me the weirdest dreams.

Still quite please to not be insane.

Sent from my HTC Tilt™ 2, a Windows® phone from AT&T

Green Valley not so much green - now belated

Went to Tucson proper for today. Went shoping and found the two new JLU singles. Then me and the 'rents went to Hi Corbett field to watch the Rockies play the Brewers in a spring training game (Rockies 8, Brewers 6). It was a lot of fun.

My old phone has been acting strange since I dropped it in North Dakota and I forgot to bring a charger. So after check to see if a Arizona phone could be returned in Washington, I picked up an HTC Tilt 2. It is nice to have a phone that is not freaking out but I miss the benifits of my ROM-upgraded Fuze. Plus Windows 6.5 removed a couple of features I liked. And the keyboard has the shift and backspace keys in different places then the Fuze and it is driving me batty. I am predicting that this phone will be returned shortly after the con.

Played so more GTA: CW.

Watched the Mariner's 2010 Season Ticket Holder DVD. I am having difficulty keeping my excitment in check for this season.

Only 3 more stories and I am done with Ring of Fire II. Of course one of those stories is over 120 pages long...

As I write this the rain is just beating down on the stucko roof. It is extreamly noisy. I think I may have found Seattle's missing rain. Hopefully I can bring it home with me.

Went to a new Best Buy competitor today named Ultimate Electronics. They had an display truck out front that showed a demo of Panasonic's 3DHD TV. And in the controled setting of the demo truck it was Awesome!! Ultimate Electronics not so much. I can't comment on the electronic prices because I don't keep up on that but video games and DVDs were disapointing. Nothing appeared to be on sale. One strange thing was they had a large portion of the store floor dedicated to pool tables. Kind of strange in an ELECTRONIC store. They were nice looking tables though.

For the baseball game we parked at the El Con Mall and after the game we decided to run in and let the game traffic clear. The inside of the mall was so depressing. Basically only the anchor stores were still open. Some of the store fronts were boarded up but some of them looked like they had just been abandoned. It was kind of strange because it appeared that the anchor stores were doing good business but that may have been an illusion created by the baseball fans.

The rain has finally let up so I am going to try and get some sleep.

Update: Tried to send this last night but it failed. Removed the not exciting pictures and will try again.

Sent from my HTC Tilt™ 2, a Windows® phone from AT&T

Leaving on a Jetplane - Belated

Flew to Arizona to visit the 'rents. Unevental flight, but only made it to the airport with 7 minutes to spare. Word to the wise never give out pickup times in both PST and GST. :)

Went to the doctor to get my ear infection checked out. He gave me some new stuff that will hopefully clear it up.

Started playing Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the plane again. I decieded to play the storyline instead of just making money in the drug trade and am enjoying it much more.

Read a bunch of Ring of Fire II. I hope to read a bunch on this trip.

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Long day at TCA. I hate that commute.

Had a late dinner with Q.

Watched Survivor (I hate the All Star Seasons) and Grey's Anatomy(I don't like Chandler Leigh's new hair color plus I did not know that Lungs look just like a Prime Rib steak). I did manage to read over 600 Google Reader post while this crap was on.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Update:

Now 5 hours until I should be getting up. Stupid ComiCon keeping me up late. I now have a small window into 1.0's "life".

Time traveling Wednesday

Oh Yeah Comic Wednesday. Too bad it was a super lame week.

Managed to complete the crap that my newest customer dumped on my lap. But TCA is starting to have issues. That displeases me. Trip to Fredrickson for me tomorrow.

Went to see a screening of Hot Tub Time Machine. Was occasionally funny but poorly edited. It felt quite obvious that there were a couple of character setups that were cut out of the movie only leaving the punchline. A joke with out the setup is not as funny.

Put MLB 10 The Show in my PS3 and 23 minutes later I was actually able to play. It looks amazing. My first impression after only 2 innings is that it is a lot of fun.

Watched the latest White Collar. I find a guilty pleasure in the USA Network's formula of their programs. Plus I read that they are thinking about a Burn Notice/White Collar crossover next season. That could be very cool.

Still to busy to read as much as I would like. I am sensing a trend.

Only 6 hours until I need to get up to get ready for my South End trip.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Not a Super Tuesday but not bad

Current project has some unrealistic expectations that are making my life annoying.

Picked up MLB: The Show 2010 today because I have had a hankering to play a latest gen baseball game. Hopefully I won't lose interest after one game like the last one I picked up a decade ago.

Stopped by to touch base with Friday.

Watched Chuck and Lost.

Played The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned expansion on Borderlands with JB. We killed a crap load of zombies.

Went to the dentist today to have a filling replaced. Was very uneventful.

My desire to read more is being interrupted by life to much. Currently reading Ring of Fire II and Captain Britain Omnibus.

Let's try this again - belated edition

Good news everybody, I have been official certified as NOT Insane. It was touch and go there for a bit but a large white guy named Michael Jackson really helped me out.

Played some Assassin's Creed 2 - Still not loving it. I really hate all the Italian thrown in with the English. It is like hanging out with the Demons' Nachos, except not Greek.

Watched last nights Amazing Race and checked out the website. Not only is CBS finally showing complete episodes online, they are also showing a lot of "deleted" scenes for each episode including the complete carpet interview with the different teams. They also still have the Elimination Station, so that you can keep up with the eliminated teams. I love this show!!!

Watched Whiteout. I was interrupted by work and had to go into the office for a couple of hours. Overall the movie was not good. In fact I would even go as far as saying it was bad. That Netflix account is paying for itself because I was so going to buy this movie.

Watched HIMYM and Big Bang. Missed the ECCC commercial that was apparently before the Big Bang. I did find humor in the fact that Sheldon could not attend this years ECCC because of his restraining orders by both Stan Lee and Leonard Nimoy.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Thanks for the Stimulus Package Mr. O! I think this may be a ray of hope I see ahead not a train!!!

Still not ready to talk about it.

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

On hold for now

I am going to stop this for now.

It is not that there is not stuff going down, I just would just prefer not to be reminded of all the crap...

I may return once I have relearn not to give a fuck again.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Two days in one

Monday:

Back at TCA. Not a very good day. Found out that there was a major portion of the project missed (NMF) and I ended up scrabbling all day.

Played some Borderlands and watched Chuck. Lana had better not turn out to be a spy... Early to bed.

Tuesday:

Back to TCA but a very long productive day.

My best health day in a while.

Watched Castle and Damages. Going to hit the bed early again.

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Sunday Bloody Sunday

Made some good progress on work today. Not enough to not be screwed but a lot none the less.

Whatever plague I have contracted is strange. My nose will not stop running no matter what medicine I take. I have never had this happen before. I have gone through at least 2 boxes of tissue in the last week.

Watched my first Netflix Instant Queue. Looks ok. Somewhere between DVD and VHS but very convenient. I choose Sunshine Cleaning as my first streaming video. Was entertained and that is all I could ask for.

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Multi-day Update

Wednesday:

Very sick. Little sleep that night. Just watched TV, played games, and napped all day. I also stopped at the Stop while I was getting some non-expired Nyquil.

Watched Life Unexpected. It was really good.

Thursday:

Slightly less sick. Very sick. Little sleep that night. Just watched TV, played games, and napped all day.

Watched The Deep End. It was OK but there are some great actors so I will give at least 2 more.

Friday:

Sore Throat finally gone but still not great. Forced myself out of the house all the way down to Fredricksen for startup at TCA. Stopped by Stop to see George but Nick was there so I kept going home. Was exhausted when I got home. Played a little Borderlands with JB. Early Bed.

Saturday:

Strange sleep night. I kept walking up but was still dreaming. Kind of freaky.

More napping, tv-ing, and Borderlands with JB.

Finally got a Netflix account. Let's see how this goes.

Watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on Blu-Ray. It held up very well. Unlike Monsters vs Aliens. I have actually been thinking about my top 10 list of movies (I am behind on my podcasts which are currently doing their top 10 lists.)

Here is a not finished in progress list (in no order save the one I typed in):

- Cloudy with a Chance
- District 9
- 9
- Watchmen
- Star Trek
- Up
- (500) Days of Summer
- Drag Me to Hell

UPDATE: Can't believe I forgot Zombieland. My Top of movie of 2009.

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

No Title

Still have a sore throat. Not feeling 100% on top of that. Did not get enough work done. Fell asleep listening too my book, then when I woke off and turned it off I was no longer sleepy.

Finished Under the Dome. Kind of disappointed with the climax but overall enjoyable.

Watched the first night of 24. Not enjoying.

Watched the first episode of White Collar. Kind of disappointed with resolution of Peter's betrayal.

Made some an Orange Julius to make sure I was staying hydrated. It was very good.

Holy Cow. Gary Larson guest starring on The Simpsons.

Monday, January 18, 2010

Manic Monday

Went in to the office. Got stuff down. Discovered that my vba code needs to be redone.

Went to the doctor. My continuing sore throat is not strep. If I get more symptoms I am supposed to call them.

Played some Borderlands with Bogath.

Watched Human Target. Kind of lame. Batman: TB&B had Detective Chimp in the teaser. I LOVE the Super Hero Squad theme. Wait a sec, instead of falling for an android Scarlet Witch falls for Falcon. Android <> Black Guy

Blah - Belated

After many hours of sleep, woke up feeling better but still had a sore throat.

Worked for a while then went and saw Daybreakers with B,MA,JH, and Q. Was pretty good but not great. Only real comment is that they may have found a cure but anyone that survives is going to have a serious need for therapy.

Went home worked some more.

At about 4 called it quits and started listening to Under The Dome again. Went to bed early again.

Did not turn on the TV at all.

I know what was harder than I thought it would be.

Sunday, January 17, 2010

Sick Day? - Belated

To try and recover my motivation I went in to what I hoped would be an empty office to try and get some work done. Not quite as empty as I hoped but not bad. Overall got quite a bit done, until..

At about 2 PM, I got sore throat and my energy just vanished. I stuck it out until 4 when I took a roundabout way home to grab some Ezell's Chicken. Ate my dinner bundled up and watched The Final Destination. An OK movie with the same awesome Rube Goldberg death's but I felt the effects were not as good looking because of the 3D-ing. I did not watch in 3D.

Went to bed a bit after 9 and thanks to modern medicine slept pretty good.

Friday, January 15, 2010

Missing Motivation (If found please return. There is a reward)

I have a crap load of work to do. My startup has been pushed from Monday to Wednesday, but that really does not help if I can't concentrate. Maybe I should go into the office and work tomorrow since no one will be there...

Did laundry while trying to work. Always a blast.

Tom's pirate themed 40th birthday party at the Stop. Lots of awesome people showed up. Left early so I could watch the 2nd to last Dollhouse before hitting the hay.

I am so screwed if I don't find the motivation that was last seen in North Dakota. I hope I did not leave it in the hotel room.

Got my x-mas gift from Jason B. I am looking forward to playing Borderlands with him when I get caught up.

I have really been sucked into Under The Dome. Even though I have a lot of podcasts to listen too, I am spending all my car time listening to this book. Plus I tend to have it on as I just walk from room to room.

Not the day I planned to have

Had my Nexus appointment. They accepted me. Should make the trip to Vancouver easier.

Was supposed to get a bunch of work done but I could not get any traction. That means that I will have to work even harder over the next three days in order to be ready for Monday. Kind of embarrassed at my lack of work ethic today as a matter of fact. Still feeling burned out from North Dakota.

Watched some random TV.

Listened to more of Under the Dome.

One of my co-workers has H1N1, hopefully I did not get it when I saw him yesterday.

Found out that one of my friends got married last year without telling anyone.

Getting back in the swing of things

Forgot to mention that I started to listen to Under the Dome by Stephen King. So far it is going the complete opposite direction of the 1632 series, because King has civilization far apart hours after being separated for the outside and Flint and David have Grantville rise above and lead the world to greatness.

Got caught up on admin at work and managed to have a Teryaki Wednesday before the constant flow of people chased me out of the office. Went to the Stop to pick up comics. Got to meet @shadowmaat. Ended up seeing The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus with her. The movie was quite good. Probably the strongest narrative I can recall in a Gillium film.

Had dinner with Jim and Elise. They had my x-mas gift which was awesome. I am beginning to doubt that I will be getting any of the video games on my list. Which is probably good since I really shouldn't play any games for at least a couple of weeks.

Came home and read some more comics, watched the new Leverage and a pair of Better Off Ted. I also built the Build-a-Zurg set. Not as cool as the Build-a-Buzz, but I have another Martian which is super cool.

I miss stability...

Cheated Death Again - Belated Edition

Woke up and could not get back to sleep at about 4 AM CST. Watched the Daily Show and Colbert Report on my laptop as I passed time for my alarm to go off at 6.

Packed up and made the drive to Fargo to catch my 1st plane. Our trip to Carrington took about 3 hours, but it turns out that if it is not shitty you can make the trip in 2. So I ended up spending over 3 hours in the Fargo airport, which is pretty small and boring.

Made it to Minneapolis, which has a much better airport. They even have small little arcades in each terminal. I stop by the one by my gate and they had the Spider-man pinball game. What was even better is that the game had 2 credits on it and 2 balls remaining on the current game. IMMD. In my play I won 2 more credits so when I left I left one on it to make someone else's day.

Made it back to Seattle. Got home where I discovered I forgot to leave a not for the cleaning person to water the plants. I think they will recover... Went to Qdoba (real food!!!) and the Stop to pick up last weeks comics and talk with Friday.

Went home read some comics, watched HIMYM and Big Bang (a waste of Winnie Cooper. She had better be back.) Went to bed at about 9:30 and slept tell 6:30. Hopefully I will be able to sleep tonight.

The sheer tiredness is why I did not post this last night.

Startup Day Last

Last Night in Carrington...

Another Development Day in our special development room. Caught up on Colbert while waiting for Dan. I don't like the new HD set as much as the old one. Plus why doesn't Hulu show the widescreen version?

Was hoping to catch Big Bang Theory as I packed but the 7 - 10 prime time screwed me.

I have a neighbor for only the second time on this trip and he is very noisy. Hopefully he will be going to sleep in the next hour.

The plot has started to come together in JC: War Lord. I don't think I like it as a John Constantine book, but it is OK as a supernatural book.

Went in to Jamestown for dinner and I had the Bison Burger. Was just OK. Kind of dry. I am looking forward getting one in Bamff latter this year.

Off to pack then sleep...

I'm not even supposed to be here today

Today was the day I was scheduled to fly home. Best laid plans and such...

Today was another development session. Not as much progress as yesterday mainly because we hit most of the easy things yesterday.

Here are the promised pictures

Before:

After:

Watched more some more Duck Tales and the Season Premier of Chuck. Awesome Honda commercial with some of the case of Chuck that I would have missed had I watched with a Tivo.

Talked to the Nieces. They loved their Toy Story Lego. I can't wait to get home and put together my Build-a-Zerg that is waiting for me at the office.

Not sure how much longer I can keep this up when I return home. It is weird not be able to type about things that are really on my mind because others read this. Plus it is annoying that nothing seem to happen day to day.

Craig sent me a picture of me "actually" working.

That is a Huge Ass Steak

Today was development day. With I/O check largely complete and our potion of the plant shut down for painting, I spent the day with Dan working on tying together all of the loose ends. We got a new room at the hotel so that we could work in relative comfort. Plus added bonus of internet connection.

Not sure what I think of JC: War Lord yet. I am close to half done and the story still seams to be setting things up. I hate it when the story is all setup and no real meat.

Went to dinner in Jamestown at the Buffalo City Grille. Had an Awesome 32 Ounce Prime Rib with Baked Potato and salad. Photographic proof of my completion will be provided later. My phone cable is in the development hotel room...

After a short absence started playing M&M: CoH again. Still Awesome but once you figure out the strengths of your avatar it is quite easy.

Really hoping I can avoid getting sick. Dan is seriously dragging with a cold right now. I can't afford to be sick since I go from here to my next start-up without a break.

According to the lady at the front desk it was -14 F at 5 AM, but when we left for the plant it was 2 above zero. The warming trend continued through the day and actually reached 13 F at lunch. Much better then the -29 F from earlier in the week.

Three more night on the road, until I sleep in my own bed...

Forcast calls for 6 -7 inches of Rotini

Picture time:

My "office" at the plant

Hard to tell but this the start of the blizzard/deep freeze.

The next morning:

The pasta machine pushing vines:

Spitting out Rotini

More pasta spitting

As can be seen above, we actually made so pasta today. It was kind of cool. It just kind of flys out. When we were done the boxes where filled to the brim with pasta with about 6 inches on the floor.

Watched some The Middle with the Slingbox and some more Daily Show.

Beyond that this day was much like yesterday but a little bit warming.

Officially Fuckin' Cold

Currently outside temperature -23 F!!! And that is Fuckin' Cold. Not fucking cold because that would be very dangerous. It is supposed to be warming starting tomorrow. It is even supposed to be 32 F on Sunday.

Finally finished Dreamsongs I. Starting Hellblazer: War Lord later tonight.

Caught up on this years Daily Show on Hulu.

Work has been frustrating. A lot of work still to be done and time is running out.

Observation of the day: I wonder if Middle America is primarily Republican because there prime time TV runs from 7 - 10 PM instead of the 8 - 11 PM found on the coasts. I really liked growing up with PTTV from 7 - 10 PM.

The Convenience Store located near the plant has a cash register that when it successfully scans a product it makes the Sonic the Hedgehog Ring sound. I wonder if I buy a 100 things I will get an extra life?

Thought I might be getting a cold this morning but I have felt fine all day except the fact that my neck feels stiff and sore. I think I am just not sleeping on it well.

I am getting excited for Lost to start. I hope ABCDisney does not try and do a spin-off/prequel/sequel.

This blog post has the feel of a series of Twitter Tweets.

I will eventually post more pictures but I am too lazy to walk across the room to get the cable...

I wanted an M&M Blizzard not a snow blizzard

Lots of snow today.

Found out that I am going to be staying longer. :(

Found out that my next job is not expecting to have a finished system when I show up on the 18th.

Had a good internet connection, so I was able to watch Better Off Ted (I will miss) and Scrubs (I won't miss) with the Sling Box.

Did not finish DreamSongs I last night so I will give it a shot again. I am kind of tired so I will probably fail.

Witnessed someone getting a case of their own medicine. It was Awesome.

Did some research and it turns out I am 2 hr and 45 minutes from the nearest Comic Book store on New Comic Book Day. I think this is the farthest I have ever been from new comics. :(

SBB#8482: Throwback Edition

Found a bottle of Pepsi Throwback today. It was amazing. I really hope that this does not become a non-limited thing because I will have a tough time staying on the wagon.

Dan arrived in Carrigton late last night and the electricians started to get there shit togethor, so we had a busy day at the plant today. Actually made some progress which was nice.

I came to a realization at dinner tonight of another group of people that I can not / will not be Friends with. And that is people that I work with on startups. I have been burned over and over again by these startup friendships that I just don't have it in me anymore. Nothing personal I just have it in me to give a shit any longer. Which is surprising because I am full of shit.

Watched last nights Heroes with my Slingbox. I had to let it queue for a bit and not skip commercials but it was entertaining.

Going to make a push to finish Dreamsongs I tonight. I don't think I will but I will make a solid effort.

Watched an AWESOME Onion News Network report about an accident involving a VH1 bus that spilled a bunch of sluts onto a highway.

On a side note when given the choice between a Prime Rib sandwich and an Endless Taco Bar. Choose the sandwich.

We have decided that Apache Chief's cousin is named Sioux Chef.

Startup resumes... Sort Of

Back at the plant today. But it only turned into a half day since the electricians wanted access to the panel to get there work done. Spent the rest of the day trying to make progress on my other work without much success. I also did laundry. I am not a big fan of communal washer and dryers. Plus I could not find any Tide Free, so I will probably end up getting a rash from the detergent.

Finished off Friends today and moved on to Volume 2 of Duck Tales. Still like the show but find the synthesizer music annoying.

Spent the evening calling people to see how the gift exchange went for them. Sounds like I missed a good time. Not sure it was how it could have been better than the Bronze Boot or a room in hotel that is hosting a wedding reception for a twenty something couple (turns out they want to party in the hallway all night).

Wanted to mention that I love that the Chieftain does not have low flow showers. I miss having gallons of water running through my hair every few seconds.

It is very common here to see people leave there cars running when they go into a store or eat. Not very good for the environment obviously, so I found it quite funny when we went out to dinner Saturday night and one of the running vehicles when we arrived and left was a hybrid. Not sure they understand how they work.

Back in Carrington

Got back today only to discover Carrington is even more boring on a Sunday. Apparently everything is closed on Sundays in God's Country.

Since I have so much free time, I took sometime to upload some photos from my trip:

This is a picture from Saturday morning where the cold was trying to get me.

The giant out in front of the Chieftain.

A Rest Area that looks like a Steamboat. Not sure why. But is cool looking.

I finished SoA last night. I am looking forward to the release of the next season.

While sitting around surfing the web, I started watching Season 10 of Friends. I am surprised how much I don't remember for this season.

Really enjoying Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes. I also picked up Marvel Super Hero Squad for the DS. I am very disappointed it does not have the theme song :(

Still reading Dreamsongs I. I really have a hard time getting into short story collections.

Happy Palindrome Day

Today is 01-02-2010. I heart palindromes.

Technically still on start-up, but they are painting the floors this weekend so Craig and I went to the Medium City (Grand Forks) to get some better food.

Grand Forks is a strange town. They seem to have a bunch of "chains" that I have never heard of before. We ate lunch at Green Mill that was like an Applebees with really good food. Then there is Home of Economy that appears to be a K-Mart like store. I feel like I have slipped into a parallel universe.

Watched a bunch more SoA. Also watched the Doctor Who End of Time Part II. Overall a lot of fun but got kind of silly at times.

I am having a hard time getting into GTA: CW. It's fun but is not a good pickup and play game. So based on the many positive reviews, I picked up Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and so far I am enjoying it.

One weird thing about North Dakota is that every place seems to sell Beer Cheese soup. I will never try it but it seems to be popular.

Startup Day 3

Temperature did not get above -10 F today.

Nothing really happened today. Just work and Sons of Anarchy. The show is good but it is no The Shield.
